This method involves clear cutting only a part of a forest. Groups of seed bearing trees are left standing in order to regenerate the logging area.

Shelterwood Logging

Aleza lake has many shelterwood forests. Aleza lake is located north of cariboo region in British Columbia, Canada. These forests were harvested March 1997. The plan for the harvest is to remove about half the trees in 1995, then they are going to replace those trees with saplings about 10-15 years later 2005-2010, the plan was then to then harvest most of the remaining trees in 2010 and replace them, then continue the process again. 77% of the stems will be harvested, and 45% of the stems in the bigger trees are going to be harvested.
