Clear cutting is used for the vast majority of logging operations. It is the fastest and cheapest. Loggers remove every tree, leaving a barren landscape behind. Re-planting a new forest is done with uniformity making future logging easier. Healthy forests play a large role in supporting all forms of life on earth today, clearcutting destroys those healthy forests and all that is left behind is stumps.

Clear Cutting In Eugene

Eugene is a city of the Pacific Northwest located in the State of Oregon. It is the second-largest city in the state and the county seat of Lane County. This is a beautiful city, but one thing... clear cutting.

 

The photo to the left is a photo of the clear cutting in Eugene. The clear cutting in Eugene is not that bad, but it is still clear cutting, the clear cuting forest is probably out of site which is good because Eugene a big tourist attraction.

 

The Lorax

The Lorax is a Dr. Seuss film about the Oncler and the Lorax. The Oncler moves into the contry to create a company that sells "thneeds". The Oncler finds the Lorax and the Lorax tells him to stop cutting down the trees. The Oncler continues to cut down trees for "Thneeds" and ends up clearing out the whole forest, and the forest doesnt grow back.

 

This film show the negative effects of clear cutting. The forest after the clear cutting is gloomy. In the movie they show animals moving away from thier homes, that is another negative affect of clear cutting.

Lumber

When clear cutting is done by sending the logs to the saw mills and create lumber.

All of your decks, furniture,home framing (garage), and many more are created using clear cutting. Clear cutting is a primary industry. There are many negative affects or at least more nagative than positive effects of clear cutting, lumber is one of the positive affects of clear cutting. Lumber is important but, we could use more alternatives and use less lumber in order to keep clear cutting to a minimum.
